I call this concoction our good ol' Kannada Kashaya (vs. You need to listen to it at-least a dozen times to digest the several layers so very intricately concocted to make up this masterpiece. This song has an equally interesting female version sung by Sharanya Gopinath who brings to fore the jazz elements in her voice much more prominently that Siddhanth! Overall a great treat to listen to this gem of a composition. The song is primarily on G# major with ‘Ma 2’ used occasionally making the melody interesting.

This song is sung by Siddhanth and guess what! It was his first playback song! Can you believe it? He does full justice to both the genres and varies his vocal style to get the feel of the individual genres right! In the jazz parts there is a certain open-ness, huskiness and a western feel in his voice with appropriate usage of harmonies, which transitions into more controlled, semi-classical singing with the onset of tabla and Hindustani parts of the song. Special mention to the table player as well - Shailesh Shenoy who holds the song very well with the table making apt variations and builds-up the composition to a nice rhythmic crescendo. The musical arrangement displays brilliant creativity to bring the different elements together to the right extent! The song starts off with piano, bass and wind instruments which bring in the jazz elements and then transitions to sitar and tabla as the Hindustani part kicks in with the wind instruments supporting the main melody thus retaining a hint of jazziness! By the way, I am sure you'll take note of the melody instruments in the foreground - saxophone, sitar, piano and other wind instruments, but I couldn't help noticing the bass-line in the beginning which helps set the jazz mood effectively. But at the same time it doesn’t seem forced and abrupt. The seamless blend of jazz with Hindustani classical music in the arrangement is a major attraction of this composition! The transition in the genre happens at many places and quite conspicuous owing to the choice of instruments and the vocal style that is used beautifully at places. Coming to the album, the standout composition for me is Naa Ee Sanjege. I really enjoyed listening to him and it's great to see him in action with multiple projects post #GBSM. The music is composed by a young musician - Charan Raj who very creatively blends his varied musical influences to create this fresh product! I definitely recommend you to watch this interview of his to know more about the composer.
